Established by good fortune through Craigslist and Facebook in 2015, Paper Parachutes produce a fresh sound of latin and Eastern influences packed in a funk-rock context. "Our diversity, both musical and cultural, makes us distinctly Torontonian," says drummer Deelan Bhatti. "Our music appeals to people of different musical taste." Paper Parachute's greatest strength is in its differences." A quick look at the band and one can understand why.

Venezuelan born singer Andres Rojas Anton has a storied experience leading him to Canada. His lyrics explore his path from Venezuela to Toronto with stops in Trinidad and Tobago along the way. His reflection between home and host country in songs Fatherland and Arepas is relatable to many people who now call Canada home. Rojas Anton's steadfast love for the beach is present in Til the Sun Comes Up and poetry simply flows in Northern Lights.

"We are pretty lucky to have found that right mix of people that bring different strengths. We have such positive chemistry it helps us focus on the creative aspects of writing music." says guitarist Simon Chow.

"The Spanish influence have taken us in a direction that has helped us all grow as musicians." adds bassist Brian Bonner. "We have been warmly received by the GTA's Latin community. This keeps us motivated to explore our varied influences and develop our unique sound. We are all really excited to see where it takes us."
